Health Care Policy Webinar
Introduction
Webinars have provided a significant opportunity for education during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Ismail et al. (2021), COVID-19 resulted in detrimental effects as the world struggled to contain it. Many institutions and associations are encouraging webinar conferences. In this paper, the selected webinar is titled Virtual Learning Hour Special Series: Psychological Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The guest speakers are Dr. Arpan Waghray (a geriatric psychiatrist) Dr. Justin Coffey, chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Geisinger (IHI, 2020). Another is Keziah Imbeah, MSc, a research assistant on the innovation team at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). Last but not least is Donald M. Berwick, MD, MPP, FRCP. He is the former president and Senior Fellow and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. This paper analyses the video webinar in detail. The video URL is http://www.ihi.org/resources/Pages/AudioandVideo/psychological-personal-protective-equipment-PPE.aspx
The webinar was amazing, educative, and informative. The webinar begins with Jessica Perlo speaking and introducing the core speakers and their credentials. She also introduced the title of the webinar. Jessica reiterates that health care workers are experiencing mental health issues during the pandemic (IHI, 2020). Jessica defines Psychological Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as a system-level strategy for leaders to provide immediate support for medical personnel experiencing mental health. The first guest speaker is Donald M. Berwick. He talked about the importance of mental health of health workers and the magnitude of the problem in the US and globally. Keziah Imbeah and Dr. Justin spoke about the psychological PPE (IHI, 2020). To address mental health, individuals can perform some duties such as taking a day off and avoiding unnecessary publicity. Also, they may seek mental health, show gratitude, and reframe negative experiences as positive (Wu et al., 2020). Leader’s responsibilities include limiting staff time on shift, designing clear roles, and training managers to be mindful of signs of distress. They also encourage peer support services and also promote a buddy system. Dr. Arpan Waghray also talked about the stress meter.
The webinar video indeed addressed the topic. All four speakers spoke about the mental health of the health care workforce. The psychological PPE provides responsibilities of both the individual health care professional and leaders in addressing mental health problems among the crew. The psychological impacts of health care professionals should be a serious concern in any facility (Wu et al., 2020). The topics addressed in this webinar include psychological PPE, roles of various groups in improving mental health, and stress meter. All these topics are a true reflection of the subject.
The information provided in the webinar has a strong message to the health care workforce. The information can help reduce both individual workers and leaders manage and address mental health issues in healthcare (IHI, 2020). The webinar provides psychological PPE universal to any healthcare system and personnel. The psychological PPE is not specific to a group of health workers. Another strength is that the psychological PPE is simple to understand and implement. However, there are weaknesses associated with the information in the webinar. The information does not address the system’s perspective of mental issues (IHI, 2020). It only looked into the individual and leader views. Another weakness is that the psychological PPE model is newly developed and has neither been widely tasted nor applied.

Conclusion
Webinars have become popular since the beginning of COVID-19. The selected webinar for this paper is Virtual Learning Hour Special Series: Psychological Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The guest speakers are Dr. Arpan Waghray, Dr. Justin Coffey, Keziah Imbeah, and Donald M. Berwick. The information in the webinar is in line with the topic. This paper analyzed the webinar critically.
