Describe the target population. Explain the role of the nurse in providing input for the design of the program. Be specific and provide examples. Describe the role of the nurse advocate for the target population for the healthcare program you selected. How does this advocate’s role influence the design of the program? Be specific and provide examples. Recommend at least two evaluation tools that are most appropriate for designing the healthcare program you selected. Provide a justification for why you would recommend these evaluation tools. Describe members of a healthcare team needed to implement the program you selected. Be specific and provide examples. Osteoporosis Reduction Program

Introduction

Osteoporosis is a big problem estimated to affect around 54 million people in the United States of America. Health record shows that the problem is more prevalent in aged people who are predisposed to an increased rate of bone breakage and fractures, and this condition is tough to heal. Studies show that it is almost impossible to reverse osteoporosis, which makes it classified among incurable diseases (Milstead & Short, 2019). However, if a person experiences this condition, it does not mean they are no more (Milstead & Short, 2019). This is because even if it is not curable, many interventions can be administered to the patients to improve their lifestyle and health, improving their bone loss. Some medications can aid in rebuilding and slowing down bone loss (Milstead & Short, 2019). The osteoporosis reduction program is not new, as it has been implemented in my practice and many hospitals in America. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the cost and outcome of the Osteoporosis Reduction Program, the target population of the program, nurses’ role in the program designing, nurses’ advocating roles and how they influence the program design, possible evaluation tools, program team members, and nurses’ roles in the implementation phase and how these roles differ during the designing stage.

Osteoporosis Costs and Project Outcomes

The program under consideration, Osteoporosis Reduction Program, is an expensive undertaking. This is reflected by studies showing the amount of money various governments use to deal with the osteoporosis problem. For example, in Australia and Germany, the cost ranges between 500 and 600 billion (Kemmak et al., 2020).  For the Osteoporosis Reduction program, the estimated amount expected to cover the whole project from design to final wrap-up is around $5 million. This cost will be broken down as follows: $2.9 million to set up and register the operations, staffing, recruitment and administration. $1.6 million for the actual implementations, analysis and monitoring, and finally, $ 0.6 to fund the awareness campaign and communication of the outcome to ensure the impact will be as extensive as possible (Osteoporosis Australia, 2022).

The program or project outcome is expected to improve the health of society by optimizing the care for osteoporosis. This will be achieved by availing the required knowledge on how the patient and their family should handle them, the type of medications, and fruitful massive education to the society on how to reduce the problem cases. The program will also help to bring perfect coordination between all the parties involved, such as the patient, doctors, nurses, and the osteoporosis project coordinators.

Other outcomes of the project include adopting healthy eating for patients and people at high risk and boosting active living, which can be achieved by developing healthy settings and coming up with preventive measures to help people at high risk of being affected by the disease. The outcome will also supplement the healthy lifestyle and other public interventions to reduce the problem in the community (Maratin et al., 2020). The primary outcomes of the project include decreasing in mortality and morbidity rate, increased access to a healthy environment and food for the population, reduction of bone fracture rates, and generally improved the lives of American people through the creation of awareness on how they should deal with health issues (Maratin et al., 2020).
